AR Mode (AR ライブ AR Raibu?, lit. AR Live) is a feature in the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series that debuted in Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai. This feature allows players to see characters in an augmented reality through their handheld console's camera feature.
Function[]
Functionality for AR Mode is limited, with players only having access to adjusting the angle of their handheld and changing the size of the character. An AR card is required for this feature to work, and the handheld must be held at a certain angle for the camera to read the card.
Game appearances[]
AR Mode first appeared in Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai and can be accessed from the main menu. Various AR cards come with the game including Character Cards that are used to have characters pose, do short animations, and do short dances to the game's songs. Live Cards are also included with the game, which have characters performing songs that have Nendoroid-PVs (this does not included "Watashi no jikan", "Animal Fortune-telling", "Aku no Musume", and "Aku no Meshitsukai").
This mode returns in the PlayStation Vita version of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F, available at the start of the game. Only Miku and her default outfit can be used in Live Mode, but other characters and Modules can be used in Portrait Mode. Selectable songs for Live Mode, DAIBA de DIVA at Joypolis held in 2012, include: "The World is Mine", "Miracle Paint", "I'll Miku-Miku You♪ (For Reals)", and "1/6 -out of the gravity-". Four additional songs, "Weekender Girl"., "Time Machine", "Odds & Ends", and "39", were later made available as DLC content.
AR Mode returns in Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2. It is now accessable by selecting "Go Out" and selecting "AR Station" in Mirai Town. AR Mode functions mostly the same from Project Mirai, though they are more Live Cards for songs with Nedoroid-PVs included with the game. In Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX, songs that received Nedoroid-PVs for the remake now have Live Cards.
AR Mode makes another appearance in the PlayStation Vita version of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd, once again available at the start of the game. Portrait Mode now lets up to two characters and features more poses. Its Live Mode also allows the possibility to switch between different characters and Modules for songs. Audio and choreography for this mode come from the Hatsune Miku Magical Mirai 2013 event in Yokohama Arena. Selectable songs in this game include: "Sweet Devil", "Cat Food", "Hello, Worker", "Erase or Zero", "Piano × Forte × Scandal", "Love-Hate", "Tokyo Teddy Bear", and "glow". Two additional songs, "Tell Your World" and "Odds & Ends", were later made available for this mode as DLC.
AR Mode is also included in the PlayStation Vita version of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X. Relegated to the game's Photo Studio mode, functions and restrictions remain similar to those featured in Project DIVA F 2nd with the only difference being new poses and backgrounds.
