Chance Time (チャンスタイム Chansu Taimu?) is a game feature that has appeared in every mainline Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA game to date.

Function[]

Chance Times happen around the last leg of a song, they begin when black bars appear on the top and bottom parts of the screen, with Melody Icons gaining a rainbow-colored tail. An upside to being in Chance Time is that the gauge will neither increase or decrease, however, it is still recommended for players to clear Chance Time to successfully clear the song. In the first three Project DIVA games, successfully getting all the Melody Icons in Chance Time will simply award the player with 50000 bonus points. Beginning with Project DIVA F and Project DIVA F 2nd, Chance Time has been changed. A star gauge has been added to the bottom-left corner of the screen, and successfully getting the Melody Icons will increase the gauge. Once the gauge has been filled up and the big star Melody Icon has been flicked, the player will succeed the Chance Time and will trigger a bonus event for the songs PV and give an increase to the progress bar. In Project DIVA X, Chance Time works mostly the same from Project DIVA F and Project DIVA F 2nd, however, what changes is succeeding Chance Time. When Chance Time is succeeded, it will trigger a Module Drop event that features the singer changing into a random Module, and should that Module be new and the song is successfully cleared, that Module will be unlocked.

There is a feature similar to Chance Time that is included in Project DIVA Arcade, Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone, its PlayStation 4 port, and Project DIVA MegaMix, which is Challenge Time. It works remotely the same as it does in the first three Project DIVA games, but the feature is only available on Easy and Normal difficulties. Furthermore, a simular mechanic called "Success Effects" has the same effect as the Chance Time Success effects in Project DIVA F and Project DIVA F 2nd, in which is only available in songs from these two mentioned games.
