GUMI (グミ?) is a guest character that has appeared in the Project Mirai series.

Appearance[]

GUMI has green hair that reaches her shoulders with her side hair fringes reaching past her shoulders and green eyes. Her original attire features a retro-futuristic approach, consisting of a short, orange sleeveless jacket worn over a yellow, translucent top, a white collar held with a silver necklace that features a reddish-pink jewelpiece, white cuffs with reddish-pink cufflinks, a multi-layered skirt with yellow and white, ruffled layers, an orange waistband placed over the skirt that is tied with a green belt, a pink garter band on the left thigh, and white knee-high boots with green soles and flaps. GUMI's most notable features are her silver headphones that are connected to a pair of gray goggles with reddish-pink lenses.

Background[]

GUMI, software name known as Megpoid (メグッポイド Meguppoido?), is the humanoid persona of a singing synthesizer software developed by Intetnet Co., Ltd. that uses YAMAHA Corporation's VOCALOID2 vocal technologies. Her voice was provided by Megumi Nakajima (中島愛?), whose given name served as a basis for GUMI's character and software names.

As of 13 October 2022, GUMI was upgraded to the VOCALOID6 engine. On 21 November 2023, it was announced that GUMI would have a voicebank for Synthesizer V Studio.[1]

Trivia[]

  • GUMI is the first VOCALOID not affiliated with Crypton Future Media to appear in the SEGA feat. Hatsune Miku Project franchise and the second overall virtual singer to do so, the first being Kasane Teto.
