Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Dreamy Theater 2nd (初音ミク -Project DIVA- Dreamy Theater 2nd?) is an enhanced port of the PlayStation Portable game Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA 2nd. It was released digitally for the PlayStation 3 on 4 August 2011.
Gameplay[]
Accessing Dreamy Theater 2nd[]
In order for Project DIVA Dreamy Theater 2nd to be played, players should have a copy of the original PSP version of the game (the digital PlayStation Vita version of the game will also work), the PlayStation Portable itself, and a functioning USB cable. Players should also have the Memory Stick that is storing game and edit data from Project DIVA 2nd inserted in their PSP during data transfer. After Dreamy Theater 2nd is purchased and downloaded from the PlayStation 3 Store, players will also need to download the Project DIVA Dreamy Theater 2nd Connection App and the USB cable connected between the two consoles to copy the Connection App onto the PSP for authentication. After launching the app on the PSP, players should launch Dremay Theater 2nd on the PS3 and authetication should begin. Unlike the original Dreamy Theater, authentication only needs to be done once and accessing Dreamy Theater 2nd can be done without the PSP and USB cable. After Dreamy Theater 2nd is successfully launched, players should go to the "DIVA Data Copy" from the main menu and transfer their save and edit data to Dreamy Theater 2nd. Dreamy Theater 2nd can only play the songs and Modules that have been unlocked from the PSP version (e.g. if the song "The Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku" or the Cyber Dive Module have not been unlocked in the PSP version, they cannot be used in Dreamy Theater 2nd).
Changes from Project DIVA 2nd[]
- Visuals and graphics for Dreamy Theater 2nd use enhanced models (similar to those used in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade) rendered in 720p high-definition, and support a framerate of 60 FPS.
- Characters on the main menu screen are now static images rather than posing in motion. Each character has their own static pose.
- Module stock poses are replaced with the static images of the same pose of that character.
- A selection SFX is played when selecting to start a song.
- The "Character Select" feature is removed from the main menu, leaving it only available in "Rhythm Game" mode.
- The tutorial is removed.
- The "DIVA Room" feature, as well as all Room Items (food, toys, furniture, etc.), are removed. This also leads to the removal of the game's gallery, though the illustrations still act as loading screens.
- DIVA Points and the shop are removed.
- The "Edit Mode" feature is removed. However, players can still play Edit Data saved on the PSP game through the Data Transfer.
- The "Ad Hoc" feature is removed.
- A "Playlist" feature is added, which lets players create playlists of songs of their choosing.
- A "DIVA Data Copy" feature is added, which players must use to transfer their PSP game data to this game.
- The "Options" menu removes the ability to set Import Data to on or off.
- The star ratings for "The Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku" and the DIVA 2nd chart for "The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku" are colored red instead of white.
- "Requiem for the Phantasma" and "Electric Angel" use the PVs from Project DIVA Arcade rather than the ones with the new/updated stages in the PSP version.
- Akita Neru's retains her default outfit's appearance from the first Dreamy Theater and Project DIVA Arcade, though she still retains her updated facial features from the PSP version of Project DIVA 2nd onwards.
- After clearing a song, instead of a stock position from that song's choreography, characters now pose in a similar (if not the same) way to the poses in the first Project DIVA game, as well as when clearing an Edit song in Project DIVA 2nd. Some characters will have unique poses when clearing a song with a specific rank. (e.g. KAITO's pose when clearing a song with Excellent is different from the other characters.)
Other Features[]
Dreamy Theater 2nd supports 3D stereoscopic viewing with 3D-supported TVs, allowing players to view PVs in 3D. The game also allows players to adjust the 3D's depth and "pop-out" display from the pause menu. 3D viewing and adjustments are not available during song gameplay.
Development[]
Project DIVA Dreamy Theater 2nd was first announced on 24 December 2010 through Weekly DIVA Station with the game's official website opening at the same time. The blog site also featured early screenshots of the game consisting of gameplay of "Colorful × Melody" and "Romeo and Cinderella". The official SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Niconico channel also uploaded demo gameplay of the game featuring "Colorful × Melody" and "Change Me".[1][2] The game's official logo and tentative release were revealed in April 2011, the release being during Summer 2011. The reveal also comes with the announcement that songs and rhythm charts from the first Project DIVA game and Dreamy Theater will return for Dreamy Theater 2nd.[3] Information on the game's 3D stereoscopic compatability was announced on 23 June 2011.[4] Information on the game's simplified connection authentication with the original Project DIVA 2nd, as well as support for the PSP game's DLC content was revealed on 21 July 2011.[5] The game's 4 August release was revealed on 25 July 2011, as well as more detailed information on the connection authentication, 3D compatibility, and DLC support. A trailer for the game was also uploaded on the same day on the SEGA feat. HATSUNE MIKU Niconico channel.[6][7]
Song List[]
All 47 songs from Project DIVA 2nd return, now having updated graphics and PVs. In addition to this, 31 songs from the first Project DIVA game are also available to play in Dreamy Theater 2nd, including the rhythm game charts for returning songs that have rhythm charts for Project DIVA 2nd. Not including DLC, there are 61 songs in Dreamy Theater 2nd overall.
