Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MegaMix (初音ミク -Project DIVA- Mega 39's?) is a 2020 rhythm video game developed by Sega and Crypton Future Media. It was released for the Nintendo Switch on 13 February 2020 in Japan and Asia and on 15 May 2020 in North America, Europe and Australia.
Gameplay[]
Players may customize the characters in a variety of costumes (Modules) and accessories as to how they appear in a song's promotional video (PV) while playing its rhythm game. They require the player to spend VP which can be earned by clearing rhythm game charts (alternatively, players may purchase the Unlock Key from the Nintendo eShop to instantly unlock all Modules in the game). Players may use Hairstyle Customization which they can further customize their character by changing their character's hairstyle to that of another costume of that character.
Controls[]
MegaMix uses the same arcade control scheme as Future Tone; the charts are the exact same as their Arcade and Future Tone counterparts, making it easy to switch between versions. Melody Icons, which can be changed from the Switch's YXBA to arrows or PlayStation symbols via Customization, fly in from the sides of the screen and overlap with their silhouettes accordingly. Pressing their respective buttons in time with the music allows the player to receive a Timing Grade and Combo. There are unique charts for all songs across four difficulty levels; Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme, with some songs having a bonus Extra Extreme chart.
Unlike previous console games, the arcade versions lack Star and Hold notes, which holds true in this game. Multi-notes, where the players presses more than one button at once, and Slide notes, where you swipe the control sticks, also return. Macros also return from Future Tone, allowing the player to change the button mapping on their controller (except for the Control Sticks, +/- buttons, Home button and Capture button, but these can be changed in the console's system settings). These can be edited via the Customization menu.
Mix Mode is an all-new mode exclusive to the game. It is played by tilting the Joy-Con controllers left and right and pressing the bumpers/triggers in time with the charts. All songs have their own new and original Mix Mode charts for three difficulties; Easy, Normal, and Hard.
Touch Play (enabled via Customization > Game Configuration > Arcade Mode > Touch Play > Enable) is also a new mode exclusive to this game, allowing the player to play all existing charts with an arcade-esque control setup. It is played by tapping the four buttons on the bottom of the screen, with Slide notes by swiping across the screen. As Macros are unavailable in this mode, Score Attack strategies use the arcade method instead.
Development[]
The game was first announced to the public on 1 July 2019 (one day before the 10th anniversary of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA's release). The game's new mode, Mix Mode, was announced on 5 September 2019, along with the inclusion of emon(Tes.)'s song "Dreamin' Chuchu".[1] On 15 September 2019, during the game's stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2020, DECO*27's "HIBANA" and Mitchie M's "Ohedo Julia-Night" were announced to be included in the game.[2] The game's official website was updated on 18 October 2019 to include the list of 91 returning songs that were to be included in the game.[3] Omoi's "Teo" and Hachiya Nanashi's "JITTERBUG" were both later announced to be included in the game on 14 November 2019, as well as a feature called "T-Shirt Edit" which allows players to create their own T-Shirt design for the characters to wear.[4]
Song List[]
MegaMix contains 102 songs (10 new, highlighted in blue, and 92 from previous entries in the series), with an additional 149 available as DLC.

English version[]
Upon its release, the English version of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MegaMix was based off from Ver. 1.0.4 of the Asian versions of the game, though the following usual localization changes have been made in previous titles in the series:
- All in-game menu text has been fully translated into English.
- Most of the song names were either given translated English names or were romanized from their original Japanese names. The English names of most songs featured in previous localised titles were used for said songs in this game.
- In the Song Selection Screen, the songs are sorted according to Latin alphabetical ranges (A-B, C-D, E-H, I-L, M-N, O-Q, S, T, U-Z and 1-9).
- All song lyrics in Japanese are displayed in Romaji (while any katakana words made to sound like an English word were written in full English and in full capitals). There are no full English lyrics for any of the songs, (with the exception for "DYE" which is sung almost entirely in English).
- The note ratings "Fine", "Sad", "Worse" were changed to "Good", "Bad", and "Miss" respectively.
- The result ranking "MissXTake" has been changed to "DropXOut".
- Ver. 1.00 (15 May 2020) - Initial release of the game.
- Ver. 1.01 (15 May 2020)
