Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live with Project DIVA (初音ミク VR Future Live with Project DIVA?) is a virtual reality game released for PlayStation VR for PlayStation 4. It is a spin-off from the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series, developed by Crypton Future Media, Inc. and published by SEGA. The game was released digitally in three different download packs known as "Stages": the "1st Stage" was released worldwide on 13 October 2016, the "2nd Stage" on 10 November 2016, and the "3rd Stage" on 15 December 2016.

Gameplay[]

As a virtual reality game, the player takes the form of an attendee at a Hatsune Miku concert, with their controller acting as their glowstick. The objective of the game is to enhance the performance of the concert, which requires the player to copy the other attendees movements with the controller and take part in cheer calls. The player will have to build up Voltage, which can be seen from the sides of the venue's speakers. Voltage can cause changes to the stage, including additional lightning, the player obtaining an instrument that replaces their glowstick, cause the singer(s) to change Modules, and can even cause a digital platform to appear under the singer(s) and let them perform in the air. The player will also have the ability to change where they are positioned during the performance, which can include side stage, aerial view, or up close to the singer(s).

In "1st Stage", when the player first accesses the venue, they are given a brief tutorial of the gameplay mechanics and are tasked to pick one of two songs to start the performance with, which requires the player to shake their controller at the song's illustration to expand it, and whichever illustration is the biggest is chosen as the song to be played next. This occurs again for the 2nd and 3rd songs in all 3 Stages, in which Miku will ask the audience which song they want to hear next, and the song with the most cheers will be played next. Towards the end of the second song, a small Rhythm Game will start, in which Melody Icons resembling the Chance Time Stars will appear and the player will have to swing their controller at just the right time the Icons reach their resepective icon windows. Successfully clearing the Rhythm Game will cause stage effects to occur. When the main performance is over, a small light appears and the player has to take part in a cheer call for the light to expand. If successful, the player will be taken to a different area in which Miku also appears and performs a special private encore song. This can occur in all 3 Stages.

Modules[]

Main article: /Modules

Modules are also included in this game. There are different ways to unlock specific Modules: the first being song-specific Modules, which require the player to continue building up Voltage during a song. Enough Voltage will cause the singer(s) to start glowing at a specific point in the song and eventually change into that song's Module(s). Modules can also be obtained through Module Cards, which appear at the end of the concert and can be unlocked by maxing out the Voltage gauge during the performance. Miku will then be able to wear the Module to the player's choosing for her encore performance. Obtaining a Module Card will also enable the player the choice to toggle between the singer's/s' default outfit or the song's recommended Module before choosing the song of their choice when viewing the main performance again.
