"Melancholic" first appeared in Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai where it can be unlocked by clearing "PIANO*GIRL". Its next appearance was in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F where it was available at the start of the game. The song was later added to Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone on 27 January 2014. It returns in Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2 and Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX. In Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone, "Melancholic" was included in the Future Sound song pack.
