Mikudayo (ミクダヨー?) refers to a human-sized Nendoroid costume created by SEGA. It is based off of Hatsune Miku, specifically her Nendoroid design, as promotion for the Project Mirai series for the Nintendo 3DS.
Background[]
Mikudayo first appeared on 11 September 2011 at Tokyo Game Show 2011 as a promotional character for Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai. Her overall design was based on Nendoroid figure for Miku, but the details were questionable. Details such as the unbalanced head, dull-looking eyes, chubby cheeks, rubber boots, and forward tilting posture with awkward movements have been shown to be humorous.
In April 2012, SEGA used the "Mikudayo" name on a Nicocast program and it was widely recognized as the de-facto official name for the character. On 24 September 2012, Mikudayo was licensed to be an official derivative character by SEGA, Crypton Future Media and Good Smile Company.
Game appearances[]
In the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA games, she cameos as a head and doll accessory, as well as appearing on various game interface skins. She becomes a fully playable character in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd and can be purchased as DLC from the PlayStation Store. She reprises this role in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X. Mikudayo is also playable in Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX, with her head being unlockable buy obtaining all of Miku's Outfits and the Outfit itself by raising Miku's affection level to MAX level. Using Mikudayo in the PV for "Ageage Again" will the change the PV to that of the set of the mini program "Together with Mikudayo". The PV shows Mikudayo dancing to the song before running around the set, causing a mess. An alternate version of this PV can randomly occur where Mikudayo will forget her routine almost a minute into the song and kneel down in shame, with the director telling her to take five.
Trivia[]
- Due to model issues, some objects Mikudayo would be expected to carry do not appear at all, nor can she wear accessories.
