"Rain With A Chance of Sweet*Drops" was commissioned by SEGA for the series. The song first appeared in the first Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA where it was available at the start of the game. It was also featured in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade and was also one of the first songs in the initial version of the arcade game as with the other songs previously featured in the first Project DIVA game. When the arcade game was updated to Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone, an Extra Extreme difficulty rhythm game chart for the song was added on 28 August 2014. The song would later be featured in the PlayStation 3 port Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Dreamy Theater with the exact same rhythm game from the first Project DIVA game.
"Rain With A Chance of Sweet*Drops" was also featured in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Dreamy Theater 2nd, the PlayStation 3 port of Project DIVA 2nd, featuring the same rhythm game from the original Project DIVA and Dreamy Theater. The song also made an appearance in Hatsune Miku: Live Stage Producer as an available song for the player to play in their club. In Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone, "Rain With A Chance of Sweet*Drops" was included in the Future Sound song pack.
The song makes a return in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MegaMix+ where it is included in the Extra Song Pack. It would also be included in the original Project DIVA MegaMix where it is featured in the Song Pack 16 DLC. Its PV modified in the latter to include the ToonShader graphics, though its rhythm game charts from Project DIVA Arcade remain the same in Arcade Mode.
